ClearPaperwork tests the behavior that can change the meaning of a business document. A visually attractive page is not considered successful if totals, credits, conversions, or printed output are wrong.
Core Generator Scenarios
- Taxable and non-taxable line items.
- Fixed discounts and zero-value rows.
- Deposits or payments credited against the document total.
- Partial payments, paid-in-full results, and overpayment or credit balances.
- Estimate-to-invoice and invoice-to-receipt workflow continuity.
- Payment method, date, notes, and terms behavior.
Calculation Checks
Known-input test cases are used for margin and markup, sales tax, deposits, remaining balances, and late-fee math. Results are compared with independently calculated expected values, including rounding and boundary cases.
Print And PDF Checks
Documents are checked in print preview and saved as PDF. The test set includes the 16-item and 17-item boundary, long descriptions, negative or zero balances where supported, logo upload, and currency or total rows that could wrap or clip.
Browser And Device Checks
Representative smoke tests cover current Chrome, Edge, and Firefox behavior on desktop, plus a narrow mobile layout near 390 pixels. Keyboard navigation, visible focus, labels, zoom, and reflow are checked on touched surfaces.
Privacy And Storage Checks
Testing verifies that document fields work without a ClearPaperwork account and that the site does not intentionally send custom generator content to a ClearPaperwork document database. Browser storage behavior is tested so users understand what may remain locally on their own device.
Limitations
No test process can cover every browser extension, printer driver, device, or unusual input. A passing functional test also does not make a document legally sufficient for every jurisdiction or transaction.
